Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and entered into our world in a body of flesh. During His lifetime on earth, Jesus perfectly revealed the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature and identifying Himself completely with mankind, but without ever committing a sin.

The purpose of Jesus coming into this world He created was to pay the price of sin that mankind could not pay – death. By His personal obedience to God, Jesus offered Himself, dying a substitutionary death on a Roman cross, making provision for the redemption of mankind from sin. Three days later, Jesus was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion.

Jesus ascended into heaven and is now at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, making reconciliation between God and man possible. One day Jesus will return in power and glory to judge the world and to complete His redemptive mission.

Before He died and rose again, Jesus made it known, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Today, if you believe that Jesus died in your place to pay the penalty for your sin, you are saved, have eternal life, and have become part of God’s family.
