Children’s Ministry Volunteer Positions Available
All positions require five things of volunteers
- Have a growing relationship with Christ
- Love kids
- Be flexible
- Interview with Children’s Pastor and complete and pass a background check
- Have been a member or actively attending NSBC for 6 months
Sunday Mornings
9:30-10:30
Amazing Bible Adventures
Children (1st grade) SS Helpers
Support the lead teachers by helping individual or a small group of children complete an activity based on the morning’s lesson.
Other time requirements: Meet with the 1st grade teachers occasionally to go over upcoming lessons and help put together supplies.
9:30 & 11:00
Elevate
Children (2nd-6th grade) SS Teachers
Lead an age group of children in Bible study activities.
Other time requirements would include studying the week’s lesson (30 minutes to an hour), praying for your class.
Children (2nd-6th grade) SS Helpers
Assist the lead teacher as needed.
Other time requirements would include reviewing the lesson (about 30 minutes), praying for your class and contacting absent children.
Children (1st-6th grade) SS Subs
Be available from time to time to substitute for an absent teacher or helper. Have a current email account. Be available for occasional training meetings.
Children (1st-6th grade) Security
Patrol the children’s theater & help maintain order before, during and after either the 9:30 or 11:00 (9:15-10:50 or 10:40-12:10) hours
Other time requirements: be available for occasional training meetings
Praise Leader
Lead children in a short time of praise during both the 9:30 and 11:00 Elevate hours .
Other time requirements would be time spent researching relevant songs, practice and occasional training meetings.
Check In Hosts
Help check in children through a computer system and have guest families fill out “guest cards.”
Other time requirements: 30 minute Check In training before you begin
Greeters
Be available from either 9:00- 9:40 or 10:30 to 11:10 to greet children and families entering the Children’s Theater and help assure that children leaving the 9:30 hour Elevate remain safe until either their parents pick them up or Children’s Church begins.
Other time requirements would be an occasional training meeting.
11:00-noonish
Children’s Church
Children’s Church Teachers
Once a month Lead a large group of 1st and 2nd graders a Bible study activities.
Other time requirements would include studying the week’s lesson (30 minutes to an hour). Be available for occasional training meetings.
Children’s Church Helpers
Assist the Lead teacher in the Bible study activities and help with discipline and crowd control
Other time requirements: be available for occasional training meetings.
Sunday Nights
5:30-6:30
Children’s Choir
Children’s Choir Helpers
Assist the Children’s Choir leaders by helping with check-in and crowd control.
Other time requirements: be available for occasional training meetings.
Children’s Choir Party Organizers
Work with the Children’s Choir leaders in planning and executing choir parties and outing.
Other time requirements: be available for occasional training meetings.
Wednesday Nights
6:00-7:30
AWANA (K-2nd grade)
Sparks Small Group Leaders
Guild a group of children through their Awana handbook. Cheer their team on during games, help with crowd control during large group lessons
Other time requirements: take time to pray for the kids in your care and be available for occasional training meetings.
Put together and run games for groups of children ages 5 – 8.
Other time requirements: putting together game supplies before Awana begins each week and be available for occasional training meetings.
Sparks Check-In Table
Sign children in at the check-in tables (at the door for Kindergarten)
Other time requirements: Be available for occasional training meetings.
Sparks Secretary
Keep records of payments and the ordering of supplies weekly.
Other time requirements: be available for occasional training meetings.
Security
Help direct people where they need to go, maintain order and keep a watchful eye over all activities in the children’s building,
Other time requirements: be available for occasional training meetings.
BREAK OUT (3rd – 6th grade)
Break Out Leaders
Help lead a graded group of children with other adult leaders. Lead a small group of children in prayer and wrap up. Help maintain order during the large group meeting.
Other time requirements: About an hour a week study for the lesson and time to pray for the children in your group. Be available for occasional training meetings.
Break Out Music Leader
Lead children in a time of praise during the evening.
Other time requirements would be time spent researching relevant songs, practice and occasional training meetings
Break Out Check-In Table
